Our answer

Two of the compounds present in teflon coated cookware, perfluorooctanoate and perfluorooctanesulfonate, have been under investigation. While general exposure to these compounds is at very low levels, they have been detected in the blood of a wide spectrum of people, suggesting some degree of environmental exposure, possibly as a result of using teflon coated cookware. Rates of cancer in men manufacturing these compounds are no greater than the general population. Based on the research available, there is no reason to avoid using Teflon coated cookware because of concern about cancer causation.
