Rice cakes and cancer

Is there any evidence that rice or corn cakes are a risk factor for developing cancer?

Our answer

No, there is no evidence that rice or corn cakes are a risk factor for developing cancer. Eating a balanced diet and maintaining a healthy weight will reduce your risk of developing a number of cancers. A balanced diet means plenty of vegetables and fruit, legumes (e.g. lentils, chickpeas), wholegrain bread, cereals, rice, pasta, balanced with more moderate amounts of fish, chicken, lean meat and low-fat dairy foods. No individual foods cause cancer if consumed in moderation. However, frequently consuming foods high in fat, salt or sugar (such as processed meats), will increase your risk of some cancers.
